Jonathan is a local native, with the families of both his mother and father extending back into the 1800s in Wilmington. He has been practicing law in Wilmington for over twenty years. After graduating with honors from Davidson College in 1978 with an Economics major, Jonathan attended law school and MBA school at UNC-Chapel, and received his JD and MBA in 1982. The first five years of his law practice included a variety of legal matters, but Jonathan soon began to focus his expertise in the field of real estate law. Over the twenty year period from 1982 to 2002, Jonathan closed over 10,000 real estate transactions. The later years of his law practice saw a increasing shift to commercial activity, and during the past five years, he has been involved with numerous shopping centers, office buildings, hotels/motels, industrial sites and residential land development projects.
During 2003, Jonathan completed the CCIM program, and in November 2003 was awarded the Certified Commercial Investment Member ("CCIM") designation. The technical and experience requirements of the CCIM designation, together with the network of specialists in the CCIM program and the Prudential teams combine to give Jonathan a broad base of knowledge and expertise.
Jonathan is a member of First Presbyterian Church; a charter member of the Wilmington West Rotary Club; and Past President of the Real Property Section of the New Hanover County Bar Association. He swims with the Masters program following a college swimming career, and is the Republican member of the New Hanover County Board of Elections. Jonathan enjoys a lot of his free time with his daughter Julia, born 1/10/90, and his daughter Cameron, born 10/24/91.
